I would like to extend my most sincere gratitude to all those who helped in even the smallest of ways during our extreme power outage, resulting from the June 29 thunderstorm. I know that with the extreme heat that we have been facing, being without power and air-conditioning was unbearable. However, I was pleased with how our community pulled together to help in many ways.
I would like to start by thanking the community of Oak Grove. There was a significant increase in truck traffic due to the out of town crews traveling to and from our service center. Also, thank you for the use of the Oak Grove Recreation Center as a place to feed the crews during the second storm that passed through last Saturday when tents were no longer safe.
I would like to thank all county and city fire departments and police departments for helping ensure the safety of the citizens from fallen power lines. Also, thank you to the Washington County Sheriff's Department for providing security for the staging area of out of town crews.
Thank you to RJF International Corporation, Marietta Plant location in Oak Grove for providing the use of their parking lot to set up a staging area for lodging of out of town crews. Crews were brought in from South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Indiana to aid in the efforts of restoring power to our customers.
I would like to extend a special thanks to all of my staff members at the Marietta Service Center. I appreciate your hard work and dedication working long days in the extreme heat to restore power as quickly as possible.
Finally, thank you to our customers for your patience through the restoration process. I greatly appreciate your support and understanding. And, thank you to those who dropped off care packages, your kindness will not be forgotten.
