No one was hurt in a house fire Tuesday night at 415 Sandhill Road in Reno.
The Reno Volunteer Fire Department was called at around 10:15 p.m. to a home owned by Todd Wheeler, who lived next door. Wheeler's son, whose name was not available at press time, occupied the home.
Damage was estimated at $35,000 and largely limited to the kitchen area, according to Reno Fire Chief Dan Ritchey. He said the fire was electrical in nature and may be connected to the June 29 thunderstorm that passed through the area.
Newport also was on alert to provide mutual aid.
Firefighters got the blaze under control in about 35 minutes, Ritchey said.
