Wilbur F. Gray

Wilbur F. Gray was born in a log cabin in Vinton, Ohio (Gallia County) on Feb. 5, 1915.

Passed away July 3, 2012, at Pasco Regional Hospital in Dade City, Fla.

Wilbur graduated from Vinton (Ohio) High School and Bliss Business College at Columbus, Ohio.

A veteran of World War II, honoree activity including, Harghton Frest, Battle of the Bulge, Parade thru Paris - four Battle Stars, French Quartagure, Hurton Forest, all Battle Stars in Europe, and Bronze Star, receiving honorable discharge as staff sergeant.

He was in sales for Ashland Oil Co., retiring in 1977 with 29 years of service.

He then moved from Marietta, Ohio, to Travelers Rest Airstream Park in Dade City, Fla. At Travelers Rest Airstream Park, he was secretary, treasurer of the Square Dance Club for 12 years. He traveled many years in his Airstream Travel Trailer and was a 15-year member of WBCCI, a Travel Trailer Club for Airstream owners.

In Marietta, Ohio, he was a member and past deacon of the Presbyterian church. He was also past president of the Buckeye Twirlers Square Dance Club.

The son of the late Tom and Esta Gray, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura E. Gray in 1956; and his second wife, Ruth J. Gray in 2005; and a brother, John W. Gray.

He was the last surviving member of his family.
