Franklin D. Smith, 75, of 40317 Bettinger Ridge Road, Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Monday (July 9, 2012) at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born at Harriettsville, Ohio, on Oct. 1, 1936 a son of the late Herman Franklin Smith and Erma Van Fossen Smith.
Frank was a retired machinist at Marietta Ignition, Marietta, a member of Crum Ridge Church of Christ near Caldwell, Ohio, and a member of the Ohio National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Morrison Smith on June 14, 1993; a brother, Earl Smith; and a sister, June Leeper.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley A. Hardesty Smith, whom he married on July 9, 1994; two sons, Brent (Susan) Smith of Caldwell, Ohio, and David (Tiffany) Smith of New Matamoras, Ohio; two sisters, Geneva Crum of Newport, Ohio, and Mary Ann (Lester) Mallett of New Concord, Ohio; one brother, Don (Mary) Smith of Marietta; three grandchildren, Ethan, Emily, and Madison Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Friends will then be received at Crum Ridge Church of Christ near Caldwell, Ohio, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Friday with Sam Bartrug officiating. Burial will follow in Crum Ridge Cemetery, near Caldwell, Ohio.
