- A passenger train leaving Marietta could go no farther than Waterford after several hundred feet of track washed away.
- A huge crowd gathered for Barnum & Bailey's circus, the second time it has been in Marietta in the past 15 years. The parade Barnum & Bailey's put on was also a big hit with the city.
