James William Sands, 76, The Villages, Fla., died Friday (July 6, 2012).
He was born in Delaware, Ohio, and moved to The Villages 11 years ago from Winona, Minn. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict and was formerly an electrical engineer in the airplane industry. He loved golf, fishing and spending time with his dog.
He is survived by his wife, Marybeth Sands, The Villages, Fla.; son, Thomas Jacob Sands, Belleview, Fla.; sister, Nancy McCormick, Akins, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Lady Lake, on Wednesday (July 18, 2012) at 8:30 a.m. with Father Ed Waters celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla., at 10:30 a.m.
