Devola residents: Attend water board meetings to be informed

July 14, 2012
The Marietta Times

We have been home owners in Devola since 1973. I estimate that I have bought, hauled and lugged a zillion of bags of salt to my five different water softeners, replaced dozens of washers in faucet handles, replaced faucets and showers heads, not to mention replacing hot water tanks.

Am I ready for Reverse Osmosis and soft water? Yes, indeed.

Am I ready to pay a little extra for water so I do not have to buy a sixth softener or carry 40 pound bags of salt, because I cannot handle 80 pounds anymore? You bet.

But before I just accept it, I will attend every meeting that is held so I can assure myself that my Putnam Community Water Board, whom I elected, is doing its best to provide me the best water and service.

In case you live in Devola and do not know it, everyone who pays a water bill is a member of the Putnam Community Water Association. We own it. Need to know something? Telephone number is on the bill.

Trivia question: How many years will it take for the ground to be cleared of all the junk, after the sewer system is put in? A. One year? B. Ten years? C. Fifteen years? D. Never? E. No clue?

Go to a meeting to find out.
