A McConnelsville girl was life flighted to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus Friday after she was struck by two trucks while riding her bike in Malta.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Madison L. Teeters, 8, was transported to Columbus by MedFlight after the accident. Her condition was not available Friday evening.
Teeters was riding a Mongoose FSG bicycle traveling westbound on 11th Street in Malta when she failed to yield the right of way near the intersection with Ohio 669, according to the patrol.
Teeters was struck by a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Clifford M. Oliver, 76, of McConnelsville, who was traveling southbound on Ohio 669.
After the impact with Oliver's truck, Teeters was ejected from her bicycle into the northbound lane of Ohio 669, where she was then struck by a 1992 Chevrolet S10 driven by Herman Stacy, 70, of Stockport.
Stacy was traveling northbound on Ohio 669 at the time.
Both Oliver and Stacy were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident and Teeters was not wearing a safety helmet, according to the patrol.
Along with the Ohio Highway Patrol, the Morgan County Sheriff's Office and the Malta & McConnelsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
Neither Oliver nor Stacy sustained injuries in the crash.
The Ohio Highway Patrol crash reconstructionist was on scene and the investigation is ongoing, said Sgt. Michael Seabolt with the Marietta Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
He said it's not yet known how fast the drivers were going. Alcohol or drugs is not expected to be a factor.
No time frame is set for the investigation to be completed, and charges are unknown at this time.
