Churchtown Busy Bunch 4-H Club
Churchtown Busy Bunch 4-H club met June 24 at Buell Park in Lowell. President Maddie Treadway called the meeting to order with 13 members present. Connor Tullius led the U.S. pledge and Dalton Stanley led the 4-H pledge. Members responded to the roll call with their favorite vacation spot. Gabrielle Canterbury read the secretary's report. Minutes were approved as read. Treasurer's report was given by Richard Canterbury. Connor Tullius and Ethan Brooker read the Health report; it was titled "How to Detect an Allergic Reaction". Collin Bauerbach read the Safety report titled "Farm Safety".
Pre-fair Judging will be held July 9 at the Washington County Career Center. Members should see an advisor for details.
Under old business, the club discussed scheduling a club activity. Gabrielle Canterbury suggested going to The Wilds to zipline. Alicyn Tullius presented information about M & D Horses, Canoes and Kayaks located in Graysville, Ohio. Gabrielle Canterbury made a motion to go to M & D Horses, Canoes and Kayaks. Richard Canterbury seconded the motion. Motion was passed. The club set a tentative date of Aug. 5 for this outing/meeting.
Under new business our club was asked to work the 4-H Lemon Shake stand at the Sternwheel Festival. We will participate in this community service on Sunday morning, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Washington County Fair Board is asking for donations to go towards the purchase of trophies for the fair. Richard Canterbury made a motion to donate 1 trophy at a cost of $25. Connor Tullius seconded the motion. Motion was passed. The Trash Can contest and the Fair Booth were discussed. Members discussed ideas for the fair booth. After much discussion, Alicyn Tullius motioned to table this till the next meeting. Connor Tullius seconded the motion. The club agreed.
Demonstrations were given by, Ethan Brooker "Safe Use of Guns," Gabby Canterbury "Caso Dip," Alicyn Tullius "How to Prep Your Horse for Gym Kana," Richard Canterbury "How to Fill out a Medical Treatment Form for a Sick Hog" and Maddie Treadway "Scrapbooking."
Richard Canterbury motioned to adjourn the meeting and Ethan Brooker seconded the motion. The next meeting will be July13 at 6:30 p.m. at St. John Senior Center.
The club members enjoyed a pot luck dinner and swimming for recreation.
