Free parking was offered at all curbside meters for the weekend. Meter removal started the following Monday.
The Ohio 7 widening project caused Reno residents to be without phone service. The lines, located underground, oftentimes change in depth. The depth change meant the cables were damaged by road crews digging trenches for the widening road.
Marietta City Council member Kip May established office hours for meeting with the public.
Williamstown's annual ice cream social became a town reunion. The event was compared to Thanksgiving and Christmas because it pulled people back to town for the weekend the way families come together during the holidays.
Marietta College received two grants to help encourage women to study and obtain degrees in math and science.

Area girl scouts left for Vermont for the Girl Scout Senior Roundup, a camping excursion where they will be brought together with girls of various national origins, creeds and races.
Personnel of the Consolidated Natural Gas System will meet in Marietta to discuss development problems. A workshop is also scheduled.

Northwest Territory stamps were released in New York and Marietta. The total cost of stamps sold was $21,592.53. Total cost/number of stamps in New York: $13,581.09 for 452,703 stamps. Total cost/number of stamps in Marietta: $8,011.44 for 267,048 stamps.
The Common Pleas Court of Washington County approved the sale of the First Methodist Church in Belpre.
The annual Odd Fellow and Rebekah district memorial was held at Muskingum Park. There was also a parade that ran down Front Street to the park.

Parkersburg milkmen boycotted customers because of a city ordinance that says anyone selling milk must have a permit.
Both candidates for governor, James Cox and Edward Dillon, have scheduled a visit to Marietta in August.
