Dwight R. "Bob" Starling, 69, of Marietta, went home to be with the Lord at his home at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday (July 17, 2012).
He was born on June 12, 1943, at Macksburg, Ohio, a son of Charles and Mary Hawkins Starling. Bob retired from Wal-Mart in 2005, was a member of Riverside Church of Christ in Williamstown and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie. He is also survived by one son and one daughter, Robert Starling of California and Cynthia Starling of Marietta; two grandchildren, Ethan Duvall and Seth Hahn, both of Marietta; stepchildren, Barbara (Jim) Dawson, Dave (Sharon) Cantwell, Jim (Theresa) Cantwell, all of Canton; stepgrandchildren, Tonya Dawson, Davey, Traci and Jimmy Cantwell, Lisa Gogle, all of Canton; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; his dog, Missy; and brother, William (Carol) Starling of Charleston, W.Va..
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Starling; and infant sister, Mary Lou.
Special thanks to Dr. Cawley and all the staff at Strecker Cancer Center for the support given to Bob and his family the last six years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (July 20) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Tunnel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon after 2 p.m. with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
