Adrian "Ben" E. Bogard, 82, of Lowell, passed away 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday (July 17, 2012).
He was born March 9, 1930, to Herald and Margarite (Shingleton) Bogard in Belmont, W.Va. In 1948, Ben graduated from St. Mary's High School, and joined the Air Force. After his discharge, Ben worked for Vanguard Paints and then later at G.E. until his retirement. Ben loved all sports and had a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates and could have joined their minor league team, but decided get married and have a family. He was always helping animals and he had adopted 4 strays. Ben loved to write poetry and wrote poems for his family and friends. He was loved very much and will be missed until we all meet again.
In 1951, he married June LaFaber who survives with children, Thomas (Claire) Bogard, Richard (Debbie) Bogard and Brenda (Mike) McNutt; and grandchildren, Jessica Magers, Brent, Jordan and Shannon Bogard and Bethany Bogard.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by brothers, John and Robert Bogard.
Private services will be observed. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family.
