The Right Path is honored to partner with our 10 community food pantries and the Harvest of Hope as the recipients of the 29th annual Broughton Ice Cream Social.
Originally scheduled for Sunday July 8, plans were changed after a storm left our community without electric, water and ice for several days. Broughton's worked around the clock trying to keep up the demand for milk and dairy as grocers, restaurants and families were forced to throw away the contents of refrigerators and freezers, then restock.
Many of our food pantries faced these same obstacles as they made the painful decision to throw away thousands of dollars in frozen dinners, meats, etc. The pantries are already stretched thin as they work to meet the needs of families on a daily basis. Now, with a natural disaster, they must clamor for even more much needed resources.
As coordinator of The Right Path, I am asking our community to please support our ice cream social on Sunday, July 22. Our coalition's goal is to engage our youth in community service opportunities so they may feel more connected to, and supported by, their community. They feel good when they do good.
Dollars raised will be shared equally with The Right Path as we continue to promote healthy youth development and the Dominion Resource Fund through the Marietta Community Foundation, which helps support our food pantries and our neighbors.
