HSOV plans annual poker run, hog roast
The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley will hold its 12th annual poker run and hog roast Saturday. The event starts at VFW Post 5108 on Pike Street in Marietta and ends at the Beachcomber in Williamstown. The first bike out is at 11 a.m., the last bike out is at 1 p.m. and the last bike in is at 5 p.m. The cost is $10 per person, which includes the hog roast, which will be at the Beachcomber at 5 p.m. There will be music, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Those who don't participate in the poker run can still attend the hog roast. Tickets can be purchased at the Norwood Tavern, The Beachcomber and the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley.

Master gardeners continue road show
The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Washington County will continue its Gardening Road Show Series Aug. 7 with a trip for gardeners to Oglebay Park in Wheeling, W.Va.. The trip will include a behind the scenes tour of Bissonnette Gardens and a visit to the Oglebay Institute Glass Museum.
Lunch will be at the Oglebay Deli Buffet and there will be a trip to the Hilltop Shops afterwards. The $65 fee includes bus transportation, all tours, snacks, drinks, lunch and educational handouts.
Anchorage porch sale includes tours
The annual Anchorage porch sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be clothing, ladies gowns, toys, games, books, household items, framed pictures, antiques, uniques. The sale is sponsored by The Washington County Historical Society. There will be Anchorage tours each half hour. Donations are suggested for the tour.
Church offers free lunch to community
First Presbyterian Church of Marietta is offering a free lunch for the community from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The church is located on the corner of Wooster and Fourth streets with the entrance off Wooster Street.
Bingo every Tuesday at American Legion
Bingo is offered every Tuesday at the American Legion Post 64 on the corner of Eighth and Wooster streets in Marietta. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6:30. The games are open to the public.
