Isabella Carolyn Powell, the beloved daughter of Randy and Patricia Powell of Haymarket, Va., was born on Dec. 12, 2011, in Charlottesville, Va., and left this Earth for heaven on Thursday (July 26, 2012) in the arms of her family.
Her paternal grandparents are Norman and his wife Pamela Powell of Waterford, Ohio, and she was preceeded in death by Carolyn Powell her paternal grandmother. Her maternal grandparents are Felipe Contreras and Virginia Cuotto De Contreras from Caracas, Venezuela. She is survived by her aunt, Sandra Contreras and her uncle, Jaime Contreras.
Isabella was 7 1/2 months old. She spent her precious life surrounded by the love of her family and many friends. Isabella is now free to soar with the angels after a life spent fighting to overcome a congenital heart defect and trisomy 18, a rare chromosomal disorder with a very low survival rate. She adored life and through her fight, she touched and inspired countless others by overcoming many challenges in her short life with her feisty and strong spirit. She will forever be cherished by all who knew her. She was and is the light in her father's eyes and the joy in her mother's heart.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. on Monday (July 30) at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly, followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Kawa officiating. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery.
