Agencies worked together to help drowning victim

August 1, 2012
The Marietta Times

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all agencies involved in the drowning on the Muskingum River last weekend. Our scene was chaotic at best and with help from supporting agencies such as Washington County Sheriff's Office and Marietta Fire Department we were able to find Ben Miller for his family. Words can not express how deeply saddened Devola Volunteer Fire Co. is for the loss of anyone, let alone a child, but the Miller family has our deepest condolences.

Thank you to the following agencies for their support in our tragic incident:

Marietta Fire Department Dive team, Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department, Reno Volunteer Fire Department, Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department, L-A Volunteer Fire Department, Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, K-9 Search and Rescue team from Delaware Co., Red Cross, Ron's Porta Johns for donation of porta johns, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, O'Brien Safety Services, United Rental for use of light equipment.

If I have forgotten anyone I do apologize.

J.J. Bichard, assistant chief

Devola Volunteer Fire Co.
