Jacquelyn "Jackie" Young, 85, of Marietta, passed away Thursday (Aug. 2, 2012) at Harmar Place. She was born Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1926, in Putnam County, Texas to the late Floyd Luther and Hattie Morrell Dotson.
She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1946 then began working for Tripplet Brothers Department Store. She was active with the League of Women Voters as well as the Board of Home Nursing.
She is survived by her son, David L. (Regina) Young of Marietta; grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Warden of Charleston, S.C., Jeffrey (Jamey) Young, Mollie Rudolph, Jennifer (Nate) Ireland, Bonnie (Chad) Lockhart, Robert Rudolph III and Jonathan Rudolph, all of Marietta; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Bell of Cherryfield, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Joseph Young on Aug. 6, 2011, whom she married Oct. 25, 1947, in St. Mary's, W.Va.; daughter, Dawn D. Rudolph; son-in-law, Dr. Robert Rudolph II; brother, Jack Dotson; and a great-grandson, Caleb Young.
