Johnson works for resolution on Medicare

August 7, 2012
The Marietta Times

A recent letter criticizing Bill Johnson and others for putting forth a budget that addresses entitlements reform was over the top and short-sighted. The Medicare trustees have said that as baby boomers get older, Medicare will go broke (maybe even 10 years from now). Johnson has been working with his colleagues to put forward a plan that makes sure current retirees continue to get their full Medicare while ensuring the program is still around for tomorrow's seniors by increasing competition among providers. What is the Democrats proposal to save Medicare? They haven't offered one. Instead they've chosen to attack the Republican plan rather than working to find a solution. I want to thank Bill Johnson for being a leader and having the courage to begin this needed conversation.
