I write in response to a recent letter to the editor that was critical of Bill Johnson's work to bring jobs back to Ohio as well as his fundraising success. The fact is that Johnson's opponent, former Congressman Charlie Wilson, has received campaign cash from three main sources: Big Labor, Democrat Leadership PAC (Nancy Pelosi's PAC in particular)and himself. Why has Wilson loaned himself hundreds of thousands of dollars? Is it to buy his seat back?
The letter writer is also critical of votes Johnson has made in support of fair trade. According to the International Trade Administration, 306,000 Ohio jobs are dependent on manufacturing exports. Opening up new markets and creating new customers for Ohio business is a good thing. Charlie Wilson's policies of letting other countries dump their products in Ohio without having to open their markets to Ohio goods is not fair. I am happy to be supporting Bill Johnson again this November!
