Vi "Nanna" R. Marich, 85, of Belpre, Ohio, died at her residence on Friday (Aug. 10, 2012).
She was born in Ford City, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kijowski Chekanski. She was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She worked in accounting all her life and had been head accountant and head of operations for the Petroleum Sales in Ford City, Pa., she was head accountant for the Disston Corp. in Pittsburgh, Pa., administrative officer for the Buhl Science Center and Carnegie Museum where she retired and moved to the Ohio Valley to work for the AVI Food Systems at DuPont where she worked till retiring at age 75. She was a member of the Belpre Woman's Club for 19 years, the Catholic Woman's Club at St. Ambrose, the D.A.V. Auxiliary where she was past commander, the VFW and AmVets Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, cards, and punch embroidering.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Schoen of Belpre; a grandson, Damien Schoen and his wife, Tracy, of Parkersburg; two great-grandchildren, Lida Skinner and her husband, Shandy, and Daniel Flanigan, all of Parkersburg; two great-great-grandchildren, Lilly-Ann Skinner and Owen Skinner; and a brother, John Chekanski of Ford City, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Marich Jr.; a brother, Leo Chekanski; and a sister, Helen Spencer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Father Bob Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
