Joan Sutton Pritchard, 87, of Marietta, died at her residence on Sunday (Aug. 12, 2012). She was born May 15, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late Frank R. and Charlotte "Lottie" Bergen Sutton.
She graduated from Marietta High School Class of 1943 and Marietta College Class of 1947. She was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority and received her degree in journalism. She married the late Joel Pritchard in 1948 and relocated to Seattle, Wash. She had four children. Summers were spent on Bainbridge Island, Wash. She returned to Marietta in the '70s and wrote a weekly newspaper column, acted as a guide on trolley tours, and involved herself in many other organizations and activities.
Joan is survived by her son, Frank (Teresa) Pritchard of Yakima, Washington; daughters, Anne (Dan) Crofford of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Jeannie Fullerton of Milton, West Virginia. Also survived by grandchildren, Madeline and Camille Crofford, Matthew and Cristy Irwin, Joel Fullerton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Sutton; and her daughter, Peggy.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 18, 2012) at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta, with the Rev. George B. Spransy Jr. officiating.
