Fair season showcases hard work, provides hours of fun

August 16, 2012
The Marietta Times

With the Waterford Community Fair kicking off today and continuing through the weekend, fair season has officially begun in Washington County.

It's a time when community members can gather and enjoy socializing, food and entertainment. It's a tradition for each community that hosts a fair.

But more importantly it's an opportunity for area youth to showcase months or years of hard work, as they show animals and projects at the fairs.

The process to get to the fair is one rich in education and hard work. There are great lessons for all involved, and great rewards when a project comes to fruition.

It's important for area residents to support the youth by attending the fairs, talking to them about their animals or other endeavors and ensuring the events earn enough to continue on.

The Waterford Fair is the first of the season for the county, but the Washington County Fair will be held Labor Day weekend and the Barlow Fair later in September.

All have an important role in the history, present and future of the county's youth and we hope you'll attend.
