On Sunday, July 22, The Right Path for Washington County, our 10 community food pantries and the Harvest of Hope, welcomed community support, lots of volunteers and ice cream eaters and dippers, as the recipients of the 29th annual Broughton Ice Cream Social.
Thanks to Dave Broughton, Stacy Filkovski, Cheryl DeWitt, Jeryl Thrash, Steve Binegar and their many valued employees, this well oiled machine worked with our Right Path board members and numerous volunteers to ensure the success of our event. Presale tickets through Broughton contacts, and our many partners selling tickets was a wonderful boost, but Sunday's turnout was above and beyond what we had hoped for.
There were countless hours of prep time on the part of many, so a very big thank you goes out to all who helped the effort. It was a tribute to our youth that so many of them participated in some way either picking up trash, pitching in wherever asked or dipping ice cream. The goal of the Right Path is to promote healthy youth development and one of our strategies in to engage youth in public service. They rose to the occasion.
If I have missed anyone, I apologize, as your help was much appreciated by everyone!
