There was a groundbreaking ceremony for the new dock on the Muskingum River. The dock, located by the Becky Thatcher, is part of the Marietta Harbor Project and will accommodate 30 boats.
A 21-year-old driver was killed in an accident on Ohio 821. He lost control of his car and slammed into a pickup truck. Shortly after, the pickup truck caught on fire. The couple inside was rescued by W. Lee Arbuckle.

The winning bid of $15,308 for the Marietta Journal is being challenged because of a misunderstanding of the value of the newspaper property.
A soldier belonging to the Seventh Regiment O.N.G., who are camping in the fairgrounds, was walking back to camp and made offensive remarks to Katherine Ellis. One of her brothers appeared and gave the soldier a thorough thrashing.
