Steven Leonhart, 36, of Whipple, pleaded guilty Thursday afternoon in Washington County Common Pleas Court to aggravated murder, aggravated burglary and felonious assault.
The charges stem from a Jan. 12 incident on Caywood Road just outside Marietta. Leonhart broke into the home of Williard D. Baker, 35, of 215 Caywood Road, assaulted his ex-girlfriend and then shot and killed Baker when he returned home.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to remove a life without parole sentence from the table.
Leonhart is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Susan Boyer at 9 a.m. Oct. 1.
