Carolyn Sue Hanson, 71, of Malta, Ohio, died Wednesday (Aug. 22, 2012) at Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville, Ohio.
She was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Washington County, Ohio, daughter of John and Wava Perry Boyd. She had worked at Malta Manufacturing in McConnelsville for several years. She graduated from Chesterhill High School. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Quilting Club at the Kate Love Library. She enjoyed all sports, especially softball which she played for many years. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.
She was married Jan. 23, 1960, to Earl W. "Pete" Hanson, who died June 30, 1996.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Hanson and wife, Vicky, of Beverly, Randy Hanson of Newark and David Hanson of Vienna, W.Va..; five grandchildren, Jared Wayne Hanson of Williamstown, Jessica Marie Hanson, Kelsey Jo Hanson and Samantha Brooke Hanson of Beverly and Gillian Jean Hanson of Bowling Green, Ohio; two brothers, Donald Boyd and wife, Jean, of Waterford and Bill Boyd and wife, Diane, of Pennsville; one sister, Sharma Black of Ocala, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, James Boyd.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with the Rev. Bill Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
