New Matamoras hearing on waste transfer facility

A public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at New Matamoras Elementary School, 1000 Stover Drive, New Matamoras, about a proposed new solid waste facility. Weavertown Transfer Leasing, Inc. is holding the meeting to inform residents and interested parties of a Solid Waste Transfer Station Permit to Install application to be submitted to the OEPA for a new transfer station facility to be located at 60810 State Route 7 in New Matamoras.

History, genealogy fair Oct. 6 at Barlow

The Western Washington County Historical Society is taking applications for participants in the Local History and Genealogy Fair at the Barlow Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6. The organization is looking for those who have roots in the area that would like to share their histories through photos, scrapbooks, posters, or other media. This could include families, clubs and churches also. There is no charge to participate. A table and chairs will be provided to each participant. The venue is handicapped accessible.

Shrimp and beer

dinner at Post 64

A shrimp and beer dinner will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at American Legion Post 64, Eighth and Wooster streets in Marietta. The cost is $9. There will also be a round and square dance from 7 to 10 p.m. with 4 Hits & A Miss. The cost for the dance is $4 per person. There will be a 50/50 drawing. The event is open to the public.

Tailgate dinner Sept. 21 by Frontier FFA

Frontier High School's FFA will serve a tailgate dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 21, before the homecoming football game at the school. The dinner will consist of sausage sandwiches, baked beans, cole slaw and desserts. There will be tables set up on the lawn to sit in and chat with classmates, friends, family and neighbors.

At 7 p.m. the Frontier Cougars will play the Beallsville Blue Devils. During the game, members of the 1969-1985 alumni will be serving nachos and cheese, pizza, hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks at the concession stand.

Alumni band members interested in playing at half-time should contact Cindy Evans Amos at 865-3474, Ext. 1104.
