Marietta downed visiting Meigs 35-0 in a lightning-shortened game at the Glendale gridiron Tuesday night.
The game was called early in the third quarter as lightning was spotted by the officiating crew, and they determined that it would be best to call the game as storms were all around us on the radar.
The shutout was led by Marietta's linebacking crew of Matt Ford (7 tackles) and Bailey Wright (10 tackles). Wright and Ford had fumble-causing tackles that led to Tiger touchdowns as well. Joey Novotony and Michael Crawford also had big games on the defensive side as Novotony had two quarterback sacks and Crawford recorded five tackles on the night.
Levi Murray had a big fumble recovery for the Tigers.
Offensively, Trent Dawson completed 3-of-5 passes for 42 yards and two TDs. Garrett Lehman had 54 rushing yards and a 39-yard TD run while counterpart Isaac Danford gained 62 yards and had a 49-yard touchdown run and a 30-yard TD reception.
Matt Ford got into the action on offense as well as he recorded a rushing TD of three yards and a receiving TD of seven yards. The Tiger offensive line of Darnell Kimbrough, Joey Novotony, Brian Nelson, Boyd Bingler, Michael Crawford, Wesley Satterfield, Levi Murray and tight end Bailey Wright opened big holes all night.
