Mary W. King, 89, passed away quietly Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2012) at the Corry Manor. Her life on earth is done, but a better life in heaven has just begun.
She was born on Nov. 5, 1922, in Corry, Pa., a daughter of the late Leslie Wells and Estella Dyckes Wells. She was preceded in death by her sister Lora May Goodwill and also by her ex-husband James L. King.
Mary was raised and educated in Corry, graduating from Corry High School in 1942. She worked for Corry Jamestown Corporation, formerly Corry Hiebert, from 1942 until her retirement in 1988. For a short time, she worked at Raymond Manufacturing (Assoc. Spring-Barnes Group), doing her part for the war effort.
She is survived by her sister Jane Swanson of Corry, Pa., and her two children; David King and his wife Linda of Marietta, and Nancy Vandercoy and her husband Phillip of Elgin, Pa. Mary is also survived by three grandchildren; Matthew King, Holly Vandercoy and Amber Sell and her husband John; and by four great-grandchildren, Amanda Vandercoy, and Abbey, Max and Colten Sell.
After her retirement, Mary moved to Erie and was a volunteer at St. Vincent Health Center. She and her daughter loved to travel together. Her greatest trip was at the age of 80, she and her daughter went snorkeling off the reefs of the island of Cosmo while on a cruise. Mary also enjoyed fishing. Her greatest joys in life were her children.

No calling hours will be observed.
A memorial service will be held at Elgin United Methodist Church on Saturday (Sept. 29, 2012) at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Ewing and Lay Minister Janet Sill will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elgin United Methodist Church, P.O .Box 22, Elgin, Pa. 16413.
