GOP to celebrate
the U.S. Constitution
The Washington County Republican Party is sponsoring a free-admission, open-to-the-public, family-friendly celebration of the American Constitution from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Marietta's Muskingum Park. Washington County residents are encouraged to join their neighbors for free hot dogs, cookies, popcorn and soft drinks as well as games and face painting. Attendees receive a complimentary copy of the U.S. Constitution and have a chance to meet local candidates for office. Music will be provided by local artists like Cindy Schott and Ray of Hope along with Mike Starkey, Bruce Haas, and Joe Wright. Project Bravo and the Marietta Memorial Hospital Blood Mobile will be on hand.

Barlow resource center dedication
The Friends of the Barlow Library will hold a dedication of the new Community Resource Center at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The center is located at 45 White Oak Professional Center. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.
Wildlife progrmas planned for Sept. 22
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will hold wildlife programs for children at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sept. 22. The programs will be held at the visitor center located at 3982 Waverly Road in Williamstown. Participants will get to explore the species of mussels and fish within the Ohio River on Saturday (ages 4 to 15). On Sept. 22 they can learn about forestry, including tree aging, leaf identification, and important tree products (ages 6 to 15). All programs are free and approximately one to two hours long. These are family activities; parents or guardians must attend.

Basket bingo to help Special Olympics
The Washington County Special Olympics will host basket bingo Saturday at the VFW on Pike Street in Marietta. All proceeds benefit the Special Olympics of Washington County. The event will feature Longaberger baskets. There will also be a country store, raffles, 50-50 and concessions. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 6. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance by calling Wasco Workshop at 373-3418, Ext. 33 or at the door.
