A Newport man is behind bars after he allegedly kidnapped and had sexual contact with a 13-year-old female.
Ronald L. Boley Jr., 43, of 20 Maple St. Apt. 2, Newport, was arrested Monday on one charge of kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and one charge of corruption of a minor, a third-degree felony.
The kidnapping charge comes because Boley used force to get the girl into his apartment as she walked by, said Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks.
"The victim was forced into Boley's apartment by grabbing her arm," said Mincks.
Boley knew the victim prior to Monday's crime.
Both Boley and the victim have been interviewed and there is no indication that there were other events or other victims, said Mincks.
"We have talked to the suspect and he did admit to some of the allegations from (Monday's) event," said Mincks.
Boley has previously been arrested in Washington County on charges of assault, obstruction of justice, domestic violence, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon, said Mincks.
Boley's bond has been set at $25,000 for the kidnapping and an additional $15,000 for the corruption charge.
