The Marietta College Art Department has begun its exhibition season with the exhibit "Geoff Schenkel and the Art of REsolve Studios," which continues through Oct. 8.

Schenkel is adept at combining three-dimensional work, sculpture and painting, said Jolene Powell, Marietta College McCoy associate professor of art and art department chair.

"A lot of people know his mural work from town, and may not be aware of his sculptural work," she said.

Schenkel's murals can be seen at the Mid-Ohio Valley Players Theatre on Putnam Street and the Ely Chapman Education Foundation on Scammel Street.

Currently, Schenkel is working on a mural in the ballroom of the Lafayette Hotel.

"The mural (at the hotel) has a neutral theme with an emphasis on a setting, a generalized landscape with hints of river and rolling hills," said Schenkel. "It references our general geography but doesn't speak to any specific location."
