BrAva run, walk
family Day Saturday
The BrAva second annual 5K Run/Walk & Family Fun Day will be held Saturday at Indian Acres Park in Marietta. The walk will be at 10 a.m. with the Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will go to CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national nonprofit foundation with the mission to fund and support children's cancer research and provide information and resources to those affected by childhood cancer.
Race-day registration begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $20 per person the day of the event. Prizes will be given for the first man and first woman to complete the 5K.
Family Fun Day will include concession items, pinatas, a bounce house and a country store raffle of donated items including wine baskets and Thirty-One products.
Library program on new American Girl
Girls ages 7 to 12 are invited to the Marietta location of the Washington County Public Library, 615 Fifth St., at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 29 to talk about the life and times of the newest American Girl, Caroline. The program includes playing games, making a craft and having a snack. To register, stop by the Youth Services Department or call 373-1057, Ext. 219.
Warm water arthritis classes at Ewing
Warm water arthritis classes will be offered at Ewing School beginning Tuesday. Participants do not need to know how to swim. The fee is $2 per class. Classes are offered at 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. and are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. To register, call 373-3781, Ext. 21.
City school board
to meet Thursday
There will be a special meeting of the Marietta Board of Education at 10 a.m. Thursday at the board office, 111 Academy Drive. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the employment of personnel and any other business the board deems necessary to transact.
Rally by Medicare preservation group
The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare will kick off its national tour at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Muskingum Park in Marietta. There will be free refreshments and campaign materials.
