A Marietta Middle School student was suspended and is expected to be summonsed into Juvenile Court after allegedly threatening elementary students on a bus and later being found in possession of a knife.
A Marietta Middle School official received a report Tuesday that the 14-year-old student had made threats toward elementary school students on the bus, said Marietta Police Department Patrolman and School Resource Officer Pat Gragan.
The student did not tell the victims he was currently in possession of a knife but did say he owned knives, said Gragan.
"He was making some harsh statements. He claimed he had killed people in the past," said Gragan.
After receiving word of the incident, Marietta Middle School Principal Will Hampton checked the 14-year-old student and found him to be in possession of a pocket knife.
The student was suspended and released to a parent who was advised the student would be summonsed to Washington County Juvenile Court.
When a weapon is involved, Marietta Middle School's policy is a 10-day suspension with a recommendation for expulsion. The possibility of expulsion will be discussed at a future hearing, said Hampton.
