Jack Bernard Duffey

Jack Bernard Duffey (formerly Perry Bernard Duffey, Jr.), 76, of Marietta, Ohio, died Tuesday (Sept.11, 2012) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Jack was born Dec. 26, 1935, in Newport Ohio, to the late Perry and Lillie (Standafer) Duffey. In 1962, he changed his name from Perry Bernard Duffey Jr. to Jack Bernard Duffey. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Jenkins, whom he married Dec. 14, 1958.

Jack was a graduate of Versailles High School, Versailles, Ky., and a graduate of the Sprayberry Academy of Radio & TV. He also held diplomas in carpenter builder, carpenter-millwork, mason-bricklayer, painting contractor, building inspector, building estimator, building contractor, and Architecture.

Jack was an amateur radio operator (WA8AMN) and one-time member of the Marietta Amateur Radio Club. He was co-founder of the Frontier CB Radio Club (19A4706)and Ohio Valley Treasure Hunters Club. He was a member of the communications team of the Washington Co. Civil Defense. He once was a member of the Salvation Army and served as Executive Cubmaster of Scout Pack 203. He also was a member of the first Methodist Church.

Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Jack at one time ran a radio-TV-antenna repair business. He was a one-time member of the local Carpenters Union and later a lifetime member of the United Steelworkers of America. He retired from a local plastics plant, after 31 years service, as an industrial carpenter and mason.

Jack is survived by one daughter, Linda Lee Murdaugh and her husband, Rick, of Southport, N.C.; two sons, Joseph Allen Duffey and his wife, Tonya, of Beverly, Ohio, and David Wayne Mullins of Marietta, Ohio. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Sarah Ann, Rachel Marie and Jack Tyler Duffey of Beverly, Ohio; and two brothers, Robert Louis and James Leroy Duffey,

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Virginia Lillie (Duffey) Webb.

Private services are to be held by the family. Burial is in Warren Chapel Cemetery.

Jack was a beloved husband, father and Grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
