Warm weather contributed to the second highest turnout Jackson Pool had ever seen in a season: 14,602. City Recreation Director Marty Kitchen expects the city of Marietta will continue to operate the pool because of the high attendance. Kitchen also said not to expect a rate increase next year.
A "Totsaver" class will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Marietta Memorial Hospital. The course will be one-session, involving infant CPR and will cost $10 per person, $15 per couple.

While Fred Dye was working on an oil rig for the Buckeye Pipe Line Company at Payne Station, he became trapped in the engine. He died as a result of his injuries.
The annual report of the county commissioners shows $53,933.50 available in the treasury.
