Lewis A. Erlwein, 89, of Marietta, passed away on Monday (Sept. 24, 2012) at Marietta Center for Rehabilitation. He was born on Feb. 15, 1923, in Rochester, Pa., a son of David F. and Clemma Wright Erlwein. Lew was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 168, was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII serving in Germany, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
On March 29, 1945, he married Jean Kephart who survives with one son, Lew (Jo) Erlwein of Marietta; two grandsons, Lance and Lee Erlwein; great-granddaughter, Grace Erlwein; and his neighbor, Kelly Finkel who was like a son.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Jean Erlwein; son. David J. Erlwein; two brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday (Sept. 27) at 11 a.m. in New St. Marys Catholic Cemetery with Monsignor Michael Campbell officiating. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.mslfuneralhome.com.
