Marietta’s Alyssa Hill (4) looks to pass the ball to a teammate with a Rosecrans defender on her during East Central Ohio League girls’ soccer action at the Devola Soccer Complex Tuesday. The Lady Tiger booters rallied from a 1-0 deficit at halftime and scored four second-half goals to defeat the Lady Bishops, 4-1. Marietta High is scheduled to host Warren Thursday.
With the game tied at one and 26:30 left to go in the second half, senior Molly Josefson dribbled the ball towards the goal. Josefson made a perfect pass to Miller, but the shot was kicked away by a defender.
The second time was the charm, as almost the exact same play developed with 18:15 left, but this time the goalie was out of position, allowing Miller to get the deciding goal with an assist from Josefson.
"I was excited nobody was there that time," Miller laughed.

"It was really awesome. Molly's been a superstar through this whole entire process with all her goals. Everyone marks her now because they know how amazing she is, but she did a wonderful job passing it to me so I literally had a wide open goal. I just had to pass it in really easily. It was all her and I was so excited that it worked."
Josefsson would get a goal of her own with 11:38 left in the half with an assist from sophomore Maddie Meyers to increase the lead to 3-1. It was her team-leading ninth goal of the season.
Shortly after, Miller put the final nail in the coffin with her second goal of the game. After making a defender fall down, Miller booted the ball into the net with 10:44 left to make the score 4-1.
"We started getting more aggressive on offense," said head coach Jeff Price. "We're getting more people involved. That's probably the biggest thing."
The Tom Hutcheson-led Rosecrans team got on board first via a penalty kick goal from Darby Lynch with 12:39 in the first half.
After that, the game was scoreless through halftime. Marietta out shot the Lady Bishops 9-3 in the first half, but the shots were just not falling. Price said the team made adjustments which helped them in the second half.
"We just tried to settle down a little bit," Price said. "We focused a little more on accurate passing, and just played our game."
The Lady Tigers came out of halftime fired up, and it showed when senior Anna Carpenter hit a long shot over the hands of the goalie about seven minutes into the half to tie the game at 1-1. Senior Alyssa Hill got the assist.
The offensive production was something Price was happy to see.
"We've been working on it," he said. " We've been improving. We've actually started using more people to score goals. It was just a matter of time before shots started going in."
Overall, the Lady Tigers outshot Rosecrans 18-5 in the game.
Marietta plays again Thursday when it hosts Warren in a non-league contest. Earlier this month, MHS dropped a 4-1 decision to the Lady Warriors.
