There is no war on coal. Power plants are shifting to cheap, abundant, cleaner natural gas.
Coal burning power plants are not under attack by health and environment regulators. Electric producers have had 40 years to move to modern "scrubber" plants but chose to take their profits home or to the Cayman Islands above investing in the future, the workers, America and even their own companies.
A century ago Americans switched their houses, schools, offices from coal burning to natural gas.
I imagine the "conservatives" of that time also ranted "Stop the war on Coal."
