The Marietta Police Department is seeking information about the recent swastika-related acts of vandalism.
Three spray-painted swastikas were reported Friday. The first was found on the Ridgewood Court Apartments, the second on an Emerson Street mailbox and the third on the stop sign at Muskingum Lane and Matthew Street.
A fourth swastika was reported Monday. It was painted on the east pavement entrance to Rinky Dinks, along with a spray-painted "KKK."
"From the randomness, I think it is just vandalism. There's no method to it that would make us think it is racially motivated," said Marietta Police Capt. Jeff Waite.
Regardless of motivation, Waite and the MPD see the markings as serious offenses, he said.
"We don't need that in Marietta," said Waite.
Waite asks that anyone who has seen anything suspicious or has information regarding the crimes, contact the police at (740) 376-2007.
