Cancer screenings coming in Marietta, McConnelsville
Breast and cervical cancer screenings and education will be provided by the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's Community Health Programs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. The clinic will be held in the program's mobile health van at the old M&M school lot of Jefferson Street between Kennebec and 7th streets in McConnelsville.
Another clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Washington County Health Department, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. Free Pap tests, pelvic and breast exams, breast health education and appointments for mammograms will be provided to uninsured and underinsured women.

YMCA?plans 110th anniversary event
The Marietta Family YMCA, 300 N. Seventh St., will hold a 110th anniversary celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be food, youth and family games, inflatables, cornhole and a history of the Y available.
Poker Ride will
benefit local soldier
VFW Post 5108, 319 Pike St., Marietta, is hosting a Bikers for America's Bravest 343 Poker Ride Sunday. Registration begins at 9:11 a.m. The cost is $25 per bike. All proceeds will go to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Building for American's Bravest to fund a smart home for local soldier Kyle Hockenberry.

MHS?Class of 1949 reunion Saturday
The 63rd reunion of the Marietta High School class of 1949 will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the K of C Hall, 312 Franklin St., Marietta. The adjoining classes of 1948 and 1950 are also invited to a "sip and chat" to reminisce.
New Matamoras book club meets
The first meeting of the New Matamoras Library's Book Club will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the library's community room. This month's book selection, "The Weird Sisters," by Eleanor Brown, may be picked up a the library's circulation desk prior to the meeting.
