Chili cook off at Beverly Legion Post 389
American Legion Post 389 in Beverly will present its third annual Chili Cook Off & Rally in the Alley from 4 to 11 p.m. Oct. 6. Admission is free. Chili judging begins at 4 p.m. Entry forms and details are available at Wainwright's Jewelry and Legion Post 389. Live bands Close Enuff (pre-game) and Lock 17 (post-game) will perform and the OSU vs. Nebraska game will be on big screen TVs.

Woman's Home will hold open house
The Woman's Home will hold an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at 812 Third St., Marietta. Established in 1885, it is a certified residential care facility. The event will include renovation tours, refreshments and music by the Profs.
Fall bazaar will be at Gilman UMC
A Fall Bazaar sponsored by the Gilman United Methodist Women will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at 312 Gilman Ave. Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include soup, sandwiches and dessert. Crafts include doll clothes, baked goods and attic treasures.
Horseman's Council will meet locally
The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman's Council Inc. will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta.

Autumn Leaves Bazaar on Friday
An Autumn Leaves Bazaar will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 Seventh St., Marietta from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. There will be crafts, baked goods, lunch served, Faith UMW famous vegetable soup, sloppy joes and soup beans.
Lowell Octoberfest kicks off Oct. 6
The 37th annual Lowell Octoberfest will be held Oct. 6-7 on Buell Island in Lowell. The parade will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 6. There will be a flea market, crafts, live entertainment and lots. Admission and parking are free.

Blood anaysis at the Betsey Mills Club
The 27th annual Betsey Mills Club Multiphasic Blood Analysis will be held from 6 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13. Appointments can be made by calling 374-1431. The cost is$35 and 12-hour fasting is required. Stroke screening is provided and testing includes cholesterol, HDL, LDL, glucose, hemoglobin, liver, kidney, protein, sodium, thyroid, Uric Acid, Carbon Dioxide, Billy Rubin, calcium and more.
