The Lowell Octoberfest and Matamoras Founder's Day are set to kick off this weekend. The Octoberfest will feature a flea market and German food, while Founder's Day has an antique car show lined up for car lovers.
The Parkersburg Art Center will open an exhibition of drawings made by Jamie Wyeth. A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight. More than 70 drawings are in the exhibit.

County Auditor Herman Burton bought a new series of standard weights and seals for W. Lenhard, the new deputy sealer of weights and measures.
After the game between the Parkersburg Independents and the Marietta baseball team, a field meet will take place. This contest is to award $25 in gold to the winning team of the competition.
