Robert Lee Jackson, 83, of Fly, Ohio, died at his home on Monday (Oct. 1, 2012).
He was born in Harrisburg, Pa., on Nov. 1, 1928, the son of Walter and Estle Ella Billiter Jackson.
He was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church, National Maritime Union and the teamsters union. He had been employed by Dravo Corporation as the First Mate on the river boat Peace. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was married to his one true love, Alberta Virginia Wright, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1994.
He is survived by two sons, Guy Douglas Jackson (Jo Anne) of Fly, Ohio, and Jeffrey Lee Jackson (Celeste) of New Matamoras; two daughters, Allison Jean Hively of Bidwell, Ohio, and Sharon Earley (John) of Fly; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard E. "Andy" Jackson of Marietta and Paul Irvin Jackson; and one sister, Mary Lou Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Brady Jackson; and one sister, Garnet Collins.
Funeral services will held Friday (Oct. 5, 2012) at 11 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home New Matamoras Chapel Burial will be in Matamoras Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
