The far left has hijacked today’s Democratic Party

October 4, 2012
The Marietta Times

I would like to thank the two frequent liberal writers that had letters in the Sept. 18 issue for making my job easy in switching people to vote for Romney that voted for Obama in 2008. It is easy because of the hypocrisy and the half truths.

I am a conservative and vote for the person and not the party. Unlike the two frequent writers that drink the Kool-aid, I get the facts and then vote. The problem with many Democrats is they are stuck in a time machine from 40 or 50 years ago and they can't get to the present. The sad truth is the Democratic Party used to be a good party until the far left hijacked them. If JFK was alive today he would have to run for the Republican nomination because he was too moderate. In typical liberal hypocrisy, Democrats rip the Bush tax cuts, but JFK did the exact same thing.

The one writer keeps bringing religion into the conversation, especially the Catholics. The funny thing is she never mentions the Catholics filed a huge lawsuit against the current socialist administration because they wanted to force the Catholics to provide birth control to their members which goes against what they believe in. That is what good socialist leaders do. She also fails to mention that at the Democratic National Convention, they had to take a vote three times to get a two-thirds majority vote to include God in the party platform. The third vote results were the same as the first two, but the chairman was so embarrassed, he lied and said the motion passed.

The writer also keeps mentioning that Obama is for the middle class, but the Republicans had to stop the cap and trade proposal that would have increased everyone's utility bills an average of $1,300 a year. If the poor can't afford $9 per month for birth control pills; how will they afford to pay their utility bills if cap and trade ever passes? Sherrod Brown voted for cap and trade, by the way.

She also mentions the recall in Wisconsin, but only mentions half the story. The half that she doesn't want to mention is that the selfish union members refused to pay 5 percent of their retirement fund and 12 percent of their health insurance premiums. I am self-employed and pay 100 percent and when I worked for one of those evil corporations I had to pay 50 percent. Thanks to the unions losing the recall, Wisconsin went from a huge deficit to a surplus.

The hypocrisy continues when Bill Clinton gives a keynote speech at the convention. President Clinton is the one that got NAFTA passed and started the jobs going overseas.

The other writer mentions blaming Obama wrongly for a GM plant closure in Wisconsin. The truth is, while Obama was campaigning, he told them their plant would not close after the pork barrel bill, some people call it the stimulus bill, would pass. MSNBC tried to spin that story also, but had to admit that the plant actually closed after Obama took office. Maybe that is why MSNBC is now irrelevant. Their viewership is down to 325,000. More people watch SpongeBob reruns. The great stimulus bill included over 9,000 pork barrel bills at a cost of hundreds of billions of dollars and did not create one shovel ready job. The writer also blames Bush for the current fiscal mess, but someone that does their homework would know that the democrats controlled everything for the first two years of king Obama's term and got everything they wanted. Boy, that really worked out. GM is going bankrupt against and can't pay back the remaining $20 billion they owe the taxpayers. King Obama tried to cram the Chevy Volt down our throat. Nobody bought them, so now they no longer make them.

The taxpayers are real happy that we lost $500 million on Solyndra. If that was such a great idea, someone in the private sector would have done it. But what the heck, $500 million here, $1 trillion there.

My 20-month-old granddaughter is now $50,000 in debt thanks to the insane government spending. How's that hope and change working for you?
