Speed, tug pull at Waterford Sunday
The Waterford FFA Alumni, in conjunction with the Washington County Antique Tractor & Equipment Club, will be hosting a Speed and Tug Pull starting at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Waterford Community Fairgrounds. The rain date will be Oct. 14. Speed classes will consist of 3,500 pounds to 9,500 pounds. Tug classes will consist of 5,500, 6,500 and 7,500 pounds. The pull will follow all rules of the WCATEC. There will be a lunch stand.

Shrimp, beer
dinner at Post 64
American Legion Post 64, Eighth and Wooster streets in Marietta, will hold a shrimp and beer dinner from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $9. There will also be a round and square dance from 7 to 10 p.m. with 4 Hits & A Miss. The cost is $4 per person, with a 50/50 drawing. The event is open to the public.
Marietta board to discuss personnel
The Marietta Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Friday in the board of education office, 111 Academy Drive, to discuss the employment of personnel. The meeting will be in executive session and no other business will be conducted.
Pet blessing,
remembrance event
The First Congregational Church will hold its annual Pet Blessing and Remembrance at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The event will be outdoors at the church, 318 Front St., Marietta.
All pets and owners are welcome. Please see that pets are appropriately leashed or in carriers. Bring your camera and someone can take a photo of you and your special buddy. Treats prepared by a veterinarian will be given to pets following their individual blessing.
Adopt-a-Thon at Furs a Flying
An Adopt-A-Thon for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Furs a Flying, 102 Pike St., Marietta. The Humane Society will have several dogs and cats to be adopted and they will fill out paper work and receive payment there.
