Community supports EVE again through its auction

October 5, 2012
The Marietta Times

What a great community we live in! The 30th annual Eve Benefit Auction on Aug. 24 was a tremendous success - over $32,000 was raised - all because of the wonderful support we received from the community, local businesses and the many individuals who attended, bid for items and had fun at the event.

Local auctioneers, Charlie and Keelan McLeish, volunteered their time and once again had the crowd energized. Washington County Sheriff's Office provided a security presence and Joe Testerman provided the computer support, built a network and provided the technical assistance that helped us catalog over 300 items for our check out in less than 5 hours.

The Zonta Club of Marietta and the Environs expertly organized the silent auction items so that we were able to "silently" auction over 200 items in less than two hours. The Marietta College petroleum and forensic students and the Washington State Community College Phi Theta Kappa students assisted with a variety of tasks throughout the evening. Doug Hess provided the music that entertained us throughout.

We honored as our Friend of Eve award recipient, Larry and Nancy Hall of Baker & Baker Jewelers, for their tremendous support and assistance with the auction over many years. This year, the Eve staff also honored one of its own with the employee of the year award and that recipient was Lashley Early.

We would also like to publicly acknowledge the many contributors to our auction:
