Free training program to deal with abuse
The Stewards of Children Training Team is offering a free training to the public from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in the Children Services training room, 204 Davis Ave., Marietta. Stewards of Children is a prevention training program that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. To register, call Family & Children First at 376-7081.
Streets in North Hills area will be closed
The intersection of Brentwood and Merryhill streets will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Monday to allow crews to complete connections for the ongoing waterline improvement project along Brentwood Street. The closure is expected to last until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Traffic trying to reach the intersection via Merryhill Street or the section of Brentwood Street north of the intersection will be rerouted to Colegate Drive. Traffic trying to reach the intersection via the section of Brentwood Street south of the intersection will be rerouted to Glendale Road.
Switzerland Schools committee to meet
The Public Relations Committee for Switzerland of Ohio Schools will hold local area meetings on the following days:
5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hannibal Elementary School.
7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Powhatan Elementary.
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Beallsville High School.
5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Skyvue Elementary.
7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Woodsfield Elementary.
Special board meeting planned for MCS
The Marietta Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 11 a.m. Monday to discuss the employment of personnel and any other business the board deems necessary to transact.
Soup supper benefit will be held Friday
A soup supper benefit for Cassie Curry Corbitt, who is fighting breast cancer, will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Waterford Elementary School cafeteria. There will be a raffle and a country store. Corbitt's class of 1986 is sponsoring the event.
Rep. Phillips to hold roundtable meetings
State Representative Debbie Phillips will hold two community roundtable meetings Monday. These meetings provide a chance to speak directly with area residents and leaders about their issues and concerns, and to provide an update on legislative matters at the Statehouse. The Washington County Roundtable will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Belpre Public Library, 2012 Washington Blvd. The Morgan County Roundtable will be at 2 p.m. in the Kate Love Simpson Library, 358 E. Main St. McConnelsville.
