Make the right choice, an educated choice

October 6, 2012
The Marietta Times

Today' political climate reminds me of two pigs wallowing in the mud puddle of smelly substances, and they accomplish about the same. You hear and see ads on TV ads talking about what color of dress or how expensive it is that the wives wore, is that really important to our nation future? Or they talk about how much money someone made or is spending, is that important? How about attacking the problems this county faces and not the person. Address the policies that the person has demonstrated or communicated that are different than yours. The country is facing a financial crisis that will ultimately end in the destruction of the United States. If you want to see what it is going to look like watch the news on Greece and Spain. These counties have debt levels that cannot be paid back with the social programs that were promised. Today our debt is over 16 trillion dollars and growing quickly. Our government has promised us the moon and all of the politicians have passed out favors to get our votes and the practice will continue until we the people say NO MORE.

Our government (politicians) wants to give us everything and make all the decisions for us about our homes, foods we eat, health care, and on and on. We can debate the value of all of this but that is not the issue. The issue is we are going broke and our freedoms are being taken away at the same time.

We live in the greatest country in the world, I know because I have traveled in and lived in many countries around the world. Many of them were socialism or communist forms of government where the individual Liberties were suppressed for the good of the group. The government controlled how much they could make, where they could go to school and what their vocation would be based on their intelligence level and not on their individual desires. Many of these governments have been overthrown and replaced with some form of democracy. We in America are going the other way trending toward Socialism.

"(Socialism, Noun, System of social organization in which private property and the distribution of income are subject to social control; also, the political movements aimed at putting that system into practice. Because "social control" may be interpreted in widely diverging ways, socialism ranges from statist to libertarian, from Marxist to liberal. The term was first used to describe the doctrines of Charles Fourier, Henry De Saint-Simon, and Robert Owen, who emphasized noncoercive communities of people working noncompetitively for the spiritual and physical well-being of all (see Utopian Socialism) www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism)"

We are portraying people that work hard to be successful and that start businesses and employee people, to be bad guys, and that they should be punished for their success. We should be telling our kids if you work hard and get a good education you can become whatever you want to be, because this is America. But our government is taking over manufacturing, funding others in partnership agreements, taking major stock positions in banks. Then they dictate what products they can make or sell, pile on regulation and tell them what they will pay the employees. There are companies in our area that are closing plants because of government regulations that are being imposed on them. There will be banks that will be forced to consolidate or go out of business because of the Dodd - Frank legislation and the list goes on and on.

Vote for the person that you believe will restore our country's freedoms and provide the opportunity that we had, to our grandchildren, if we don't they will be the ones living like the people in Greece and Spain, the ones rioting in the streets.
