Same old New Philadelphia.
While the Quakers struggled offensively a little bit in the first half, they rolled after the break and defeated Marietta High, 34-0, in an East Central Ohio League football game at Don Drumm Stadium Friday night.
Last year, New Philly won by a 44-7 score on its turf.
The Adam Eichhorn-coached Tigers dropped their sixth consecutive game after kicking off the season with a 41-35 win over Morgan. The orange and black gridders now own a 1-6 overall record and are 0-2 in the ECOL.
Undefeated and No. 10-ranked New Philadelphia improved its overall mark to 7-0 (3-0 ECOL).
On their opening offensive possession, the Quakers staked themselves to a 7-0 first-quarter advantage when quarterback Caleb Beans hit Jamal Johnson with a 35-yard scoring strike. Adam Hershberger kicked the extra point.

After Marietta punted on its first possession, New Philadelphia did the same.
On the Quakers' third possession, they had two touchdowns called back because of penalties. And, then they had a 37-yard field goal attempt by Hershberger blocked by the Tigers' Anthony Kimbrough and recovered by Spencer Frum.
Marietta, however, was unable to capitalize on the blocked punt.
Early in the second quarter, MHS junior Quinton Coffield intercepted a Beans' throw. But again, the Tigers' offense, engineered by freshman John Henry, sputtered and ended up turning the ball over on downs.
With under a minute remaining before the break, New Philadelphia scored on a reverse with Greg Cunningham racing 26 yards to paydirt. Hershberger followed with the PAT.
At halftime, host Marietta trailed 14-0.
After the intermission, New Philadelphia got a 30-yard TD run from Johnson in the third quarter and a Beans' 37-yard scoring strike to Justin Ward to make it 27-0.
Capping all the scoring in the final period, Beans passed 15 yards to Hunter Joseph to stretch the Quaker advantage to 34-0.
Johnson finished with 113 yards rushing. Going into the game, the New Philly standout was averaging 220 on the ground. He now has scored 24 touchdowns on the season.
Beans threw for 128 yards and three scores.
Offensively, Marietta had negative yardage on the ground and 95 through the air for a total of 85 yards.
Marietta is hoping to halt its current slide when it hosts Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans at 7 p.m. next Friday. This will be the Tigers' last home game of the season.
MHS is scheduled to play its final two games on the road at Dover (Oct. 19) and Zanesville (Oct. 26), respectively.
